At first sight it looks as if there would be no downside to selecting "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" but things are rarely quite so simple, and why is it given as an option rather than a default?
Any recommendations?

Looks very much as if DEP would be best left on Windows only. Turned on for other programs gave me problems with Yahoo e-mail which it didn`t like at all.
