Damaged Installation Disc

Is it possible to Create a Full Installation Disc for Windows XP Pro from within the Operating System?
My copy is damaged and I do not really want to have to fork out for a replacement but I do need to re-format my machine.
I seem to remember someone recently saying the files are stored somewhere on the Hard Drive but is it as simple as finding them and burning them?

Try putting the Disc in your CDRW and click copy in NERO or what you use, if it can it will ask for a blank disc when it's ready
