Trying to copy a file from DVD-Ram to Hard disk C and get "cyclic redundancy check". What is this and how do I overcome it.

Many thanks to VoG for information on the above.
My "Microsoft Money" file disappeared from my "C" Drive and attempts to drop and drag it from the back up on DVD-Ram disk produced the CRC message.
It would appear that the disk or prggramme may be corrupted or damaged.
Can you tell me how to repair it please.

Thank you.

Is the disk dirty only a fingerprint can invoke a CRC.

Dear Sans le sou,

Thank you very much for your kind suggestion,
I followed your advice and cleaned the disk with a soft cloth, but unfortunately it did not get rid of the CRC, but I am grateful to you for taking the trouble to make contact.
