If you close the explorer window then reboot the folder should not reappear.

If it does, Start, Run, type in

and click OK.

On the Startup tab look for explorer.exe and if found untick it. OK your way out and reboot.

Do you mean an MSDOS window appears i.e. black screen with C:\ prompt ?

no the windows screen is visible showing all the folders and files which are in the windows folder

You need to find the file 'Win.ini',which is in the Windows folder, using Explorer or 'Find'. Double click on the file which will open in Notepad. The first four lines of the file should read

If there is anything at all behind the 'run=' (it might only be a full stop) remove it. Any text behind this command will cause the Windows folder to open. Reboot and all should be well.
