'Custom Views' in Excel 2003 are greyed out. Why?!

Hi all, I have a spreadsheet for whic I want to create some custom views.

I'm usually able to do this by navigating to View, then 'Custom Views' and naming my tailored view there.

For some reason, this is now greyed out.

A google search seems to suggest that it may be because I have a list defined in another tab of my spreadhseet, but I don't understand why this would refrain me from creating custom views in a seperate tab.

Any ideas?

Do you have grouped sheets (more than one sheet selected)?

No, I checked before posting.

Is there any protection? - Actually this should result in an error message, not greying out.

Is it just the one workbook and if so is it a very large file?

Just the one workbook, very small file.

No protection either.

The spreadsheet poses the same issue on other machines also.

Any more ideas?
