Is your mouse USB?

Start in Safe Mode, Tapping F5 as PC starting, then run Restore back to when it worked Restore points are Bold Dates on the Calendar

Have tapped F5 but it didnt work - pc just goes to the login screen with the stuck cursor!

Keep tapping F8 as the computer starts.
You could try last good configuration first and see if that works.
Mouse might be broke if no success try a usb Mouse to see if that works.

F8 doesnot respond either-just goes to login screen!Have tried a different pc2 mouse but still no joy!

Have you tried pressing the windows logo on the keyboard and work your way to system restore using the up down arrows on the keyboard.
or does the keyboard not work either.

See if you can borrow a mouse with a USB connection and try that.

  woodchip 12:26 05 Aug 10

as soon as you press start button you have to keep tapping the above key until it goes to safe mode. its no good five or ten seconds later to start tapping

Keyboard does not appear to be responding either!
