CTFMON.EXE freind or foe

Hi Guys,

I have read on various sites that the above file is some kind of virus/trojan, and on other sites that it is part of MS O/S and is related to "language assistance" or something like?
I have the above file in C: windows/system32 and it is always in start up, is this correct or should I be concerned? Have run AV, SBS&D, Adaware, MS AntiSpy and 'A'squared nothing shows.
Avice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance of your help.

Thanks for this.
From what I have read, if the file only exists in C:windows/system32 then it is assumed to be safe? Therefore no need to disable or delete the file?

You could look at it this way........If you have Microsoft Office then you will definitely have one CTFMON.exe on your pc.Nothing to worry about,it's a required file. You can remove it from Start up but it will reappear next time you use Office.
