I am using two crt monitors off an ATI card using extended desktop etc. Will I be abe to run a LCD monitor in tandem with a CTR i.e replacing a CRT, please

Yes, but unless the card allows for independent resolution and refresh rates, the CRT may not give off its best.

Assuming a 17" TFT panel, the normal resolution/refresh would be 1280x1024 at 60Hz if this carries over to the CRT then you would most likely experience flickering on the screen.

If you set a higher resolution/refresh for the CRT then the TFT display would deteriorate as it moves away from its native resolution.

Thanks, the card does offer independant resolution and refresh rates, thats how I'm using it now. Tks for reply AB68

Your welcome anniesboy68. With independent settings it will be fine to go ahead as planned :o)
