Creating new MS Word Template

My system is W98 and Office 97 Professional. When creating a new template is it possible to ensure that when a document is opened using that template, the cursor / insertion pointer is at the position where the user is to start entering text, and not in the "default" position - i.e. at the very beginning of the document?

I think that you would need to create a macro within the template to do that. You could do this by recording a macro. Then ensure that the macro is named Auto_Open and is saved in your template, not in NORMAL.DOT

If you are creating a document where people are just typing in text and are not changing anything of the layout, try using Forms within word.

You create the form, adding text fields, and then lock the form and save it as a template.

The person who then opens it will be taken to the first text field.
