Creating Gifs for the Web with Gimp- Image Quality

I have recently downloaded Gimp and I'm trying to create an animated button for the web. All goes well until I upload it and the image quality is very poor. I have added a text layer as well as using a logo. The file size is very small but for the life of me I can't find a simple instruction on the web (there are hundreds of sites with info on Gimp) that tells me specifically how to improve the quality.

Can anyone help!

Have a look in this book, it's got a section on web animations.
