Creating columns in Word xp

I need to create a documnet in word xp that uses two columns but flows column 1 into column 1 on each page and column 2 into column 2 on each page. The "help" gives a complex way of doing this with text boxes but that really doesn't help much - I just need to be able to type one "story" in one column, and the other in the other. Anyone know how to do this? Cheers.

Create a table 2 columns wide by 1 row deep. Turn off the borders. The table will increase in depth as you type into it.

VoG® is right again.just type into column 1, it will expand downwards as you type, and should carry on to page 2.
