Crawling Computers

  spuds 10:56 16 Feb 06

One for an absolute beginner.

Computer working fine, then starts to decrease in speed and operating mode as day progresses. Checks for virus infections and malaware prove nothing at fault. Diagnostic checks and clean-ups like ccleaner, defrags, disk cleans all seem to make no improvements.

Switch off computer, then do a re-boot later, and all seems (sometimes) back to normal, including internet connections.Sometimes later when computer as warmed up, we are back to the dragging feet through thick maple syrup syndrome of slowdown.

Tell me, what else is there to consider!!.

What's your operating system? Which anti-virus program do you use?

Belatucadrus- CPU fan temperature checks out fine. Task manager doe's present some suspect items, but insure what they are,and wouldn't like to delete something that is necessary. Looking into this further.

beynac- Home XP and AVG, plus all well and good recommended other anti's.
