this may be a openglide problem. Some games use directX to control graphics/sound/joypad etc, all microsoft games definitely do. Many other games are coded to use a different system called openGL. This works differently and requires special files on your system which are normally supplied with your graphics card software. When you download any drivers, make sure it mentions openGL support. If the openGL files are installed but are not for your graphics card you can get all kinds of wierd things happening.
