Both of my CD-RW (Lite-On 24102M) and my DVD-ROM (NEC DV) drives are recognised as only being CD-ROMs and therefore I can only play cds etc. Any ideas on how to get these to revert back? I've tried cleaing the registry and they both have upto date drivers, without sucess. Any other ideas? Darren

Couldn't you uninstall them from device manager, reboot the pc, and let Windows find them again?.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes I've tried this but again they are only recognised as CD-ROMS. I dont have any burning software like Easy CD Creator so cant be that.

Try disconnecting both, then reconnecting them in reverse order, changing the jumpers from master to slave and vice versa. Connect the old "slave" as master first, test it, see if it'll write. Then connect the "old master" as slave, see if that works.

Raven, i've tried this without any success, so will have to try the actual physical unconnecting of the drives.
