CPU upgrade, is it possible?

  sorefingers 17:53 13 Feb 03

I have a HP Pavillion 403(for my sins!) with a Celeron 1.8 cpu and 256 SDRam...it seems a lot slower than my 1.8 P4 Packard Bell system, which runs on 256 Rambus memory. Is it possible for me to replace it with a faster chip, say, a 2.4 P4.....would it be a straight swop?

Thanks for any help!

You will have to look at your motherboard specs to see what CPU it will support, sorefingers. If im wrong somebody will put it right.

ditto to recap's advice.

This is one of those things I suspect, where increasing the speed of the CPU (even if the motherboard will recognise it) will not justify the effort.
