cpu upgrade

my computer has a duron 750 processor on a jetway
vbn780 motherboard,I have been given an 1g athlon
but when I fitted it it showed up as a 750 athlon
so I thought I would just change the motherboard from pc100 to pc133 but when I did I got the dreaded blue screen.I then had to change back to
pc100 when the computer started ok but as a 750
athlon,I have tried this several times with the same results, any help would be appreciated.

have you seen if you can get a bios upgrade, have you checked to see if the new cpu is supported, both bits of info available from web site

It should be in BIOS some setting relating to your cpu, I had to do the same thing when I upgraded an 800 Duron to 1.3 Athlon.

Sorry cant be more helpful it was a while ago that I did the upgrade, if you have a mobo manual look in there for the BIOS settings you can change.
