It's getting a wee bit too close for comfort. Are your fans working OK ? Check CPU fan is working at correct speed and not clogged with dust. Case fans OK ??

Yes its too hot. How long has it been running at this temp. Is it a new build?.

  hzhzhz 20:48 21 Jan 06

A damaged thermal pad perhaps.

  QuizMan 20:53 21 Jan 06

Definitely too hot. The AMD website quotes 70 degrees as the maximum. I have the same processor and it runs at 30-34 degrees.

A high cpu core voltage will cause this with no other noticeable effects.
Check in your bios settings what it is.
Check AMD site for correct setting.

I use the Athlon 64 3500 with the Winchester core.
My cpu temp is 44 C.

Suggest you check the fans and vents and clean out all the dirt and dust.

You should be running at low to mid 30's C ticking over with reasonable ventilation and using std AMD Retail H/sink.

What is your full spec inc case fan arrangement and PSU fan ?
