Hi

Ive got a Gigabyte GA-7N400l MB and I have just installed what I thought was an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ CPU.

I thought it was rated at 1.83 GHz but it seems to be running at 1.09 GHz.

Is this correct?
If not how can I get it to run at the correct speed?

Thanks

You will have to enter your Bios setup:

When you boot up you need to press somthing like DEL or another key that takes you there.

Look for the CPU FSB or CPU Frequency and it should be like 100 on the setting up it to 200 that should all be fine.

Hi Rob

Bios Settings are:

ADVANCED CHIPSET FEATURES

SYSTEM PERFORMANCE = NORMAL
FSB FREQUENCY = 166MHz
X MEMORY FREQUENCY = By SPD
RESULTING FREQUENCY = 266MHz
AGP FREQUENCY = NORMAL

Shall I up the FSB FREQUENCY to 200MHz ?

In addition:

The MB has two switches

1) CLK SW (Currently set at auto)

which can be either auto (Manual states "auto supports FSB 400/333/266 MHz CPU") or 100MHz (Manual states "Fix FSB 200MHz CPU")

2) CLK RATIO (Currently set at auto)

can be set at between 5x and 18x with auto option also.

Thanks for your help

It should run at

11 X 166Mhz. = 1.826Ghz

quiller,

That makes sense.

How do I get it to run at that speed?

Do I change the CLK RATIO from auto to x11?

If the motherboard has no conflicts with ram speed and cpu speed, then yes.

You have doubled checked the code numbers and it is a barton 2500+?
