CPU and SDRAM upgrade

Hello folks
I have a PC now almost 3 years old and I would like to update it a bit..
It’s an AMD Athlon processor 700MHz…. MS-6316 ATXIR3 mainboard with AMD-750 chipset. (AMD-751 and AMD-756) Chipset says 200MHz EV6 System Interface speed-------100MHz SDRAM.
FSB--- 100MHz clock is supported (200MHz Internal System Bus)
I have only a 64MB and the manual says that the mainboard supports up to 512MB..
Supports 3.3vPC100 SDRAM DIMM
So I will get 256MB of SDRAM to start of with..
I would like a faster processor but not sure how fast my system will handle. The manual says ….CPU Slot A for AMD Athlon Processor. Supports 500 550 600MHz or higher…
Mine is a 700MHz so when it says supports faster. How much faster does it mean?
So could anyone help me on what’s best for me to do?

If I were you I would go for 512 mb ram and that would certianly make a difference to the speed. I would not consider putting a new chip on that board. You might like to consider a motherboard bundle to upgrade but it really depends on what you want from your pc.

So you mean my board is not up to scratch to fit a larger processor. Ok then I will try the 512MHz SDRAM upgrade then. I am sure it will make a big difference compared to my 64MHz..
