Hi Everyone,

[How can I get my Computer to see the CPU at the correct running speed]
I recently built a new setup: with already having an older type motherboard spare? Gigabyte RXZ Series 7VT6000-RZ (-C) VIA KT600-Chipset. I decided although only 32 bit.
To Purchase a 2600 Sempron CPU.

PROBLEM: Bios will only allow CU HOST FREQUENCY(9MHz) Max Computer It sees it as a Athlon 1700. Or at the default setting 100 only sees it as running at 1.100mhtz.

Help Please?

Syd.

Is JP1 ( jumper 1 ) removed from the motherboard. If it is fitted then it will default the cpu to 100Mhz.

ps it is to the left of the cmos battery.

See my reply on yr original posting. Sounds like you need a BIOS update.

Do you think it needs a bios flash? I checked the gigabyte site and it looks OK. click here

email from sydhall.

" Thank's Removing JP. did the trick "

sydhall. It is better to post on here than reply by email. Then if a solution works for you, it may work for others.

I hope the machine is a bit faster for you now;-)

I was only suggesting that it would be well to check
version as sydhall said it was an old board in case it was pre Sempron support.

However it looks as if your simpler tip did the trick.

I did not know there was another thread running, hence your

" See my reply on yr original posting."

So I didn't know what was going on.

No harm M8.;-)
