My computer has had trouble shutting down, it keeps coming up with a box saying (iosdt.exe has trouble shutting down). I noticed in windows task manager that this is a system program but i also noticed that it is keeping my processer at 100% all the time plus my power supply stopped working the other day and i had to buy a new one,is this to do with the cpu being at full capacity and does anyone know how to rectify this problem.

Check to see if iosdt.exe is running:

1. Open Windows Task Manager by pressing "Crtl" + "Alt" + "Delete".
2. Click the Processes tab.
3. Look to see if iosdt.exe is running (it will be using most CPU resources). If iosdt.exe is not running, this is information does not apply to your problem.

Removing iosdt.exe:
This is a very sneaky infection. In order to find & remove the exe you need to:

1. Open Control Panel > Folder Options
2. Click the View tab.
3. Under Hidden Files & Folders click "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
4. Next uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"
5. Reboot in Safe Mode (in XP press F8 before windows begins loading)
6. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32
7. Delete the Folders & files with iosdt in the name (there should be 1 folder, iosdt, containing all the corrupt files) you may want to do a search for iosdt to make sure everything is removed.
8. Empty the Recycle Bin.
9. Reboot in Normal Mode.
