cpu cooling fans-- wiring?

i have to change my noisy (hoover)fan,a friend gave me a heatsink and fan to see if it will fit,i wont fit it but the wiring is different to mine,mine has 3 wires,red,black and yellow coming out the top,going to the mobo(matsonic 8308e)and 3 wires from near the bottom.red,black and blue(blue not used)connecting to red and black on loom,the fan my mate gave me had the red and black that i expect go,s to the loom but what do i do about the connection to the mobo,thanks

CPU fans nomally have just one connector - that goes to the motherboard - which picks up the power for the fan. It may have two wires only (power) - or three - the extra being the tachometer (speed sensing).

I can't imagine what other wires there are comng from yours. Fans do not normally connect to a connector on the wiring loom.

Do you mean it has a molex connector or a smaller one that can connect to the motherboard.
