Is it safe to start a PC with a healthy motherboard without a CPU installed on the board and would you get a display on the screen on start up?

why on earth would you?

You'd get a load of beeps and nothing else during bootup is my guess.

Because I think my motherboard is u/s. When I start my PC i get nothing. Im unsure if it is the motherboard or CPU. I was wondering if a CPU was faulty would you get a display?

depending on the mobo apparently it will tell you that "no cpu detected".

  SG Atlantis® 20:22 27 Dec 05

u/s what's that mean?

  firerescue999 20:23 27 Dec 05

Ok thank you. I think the mobo is the problem, thanks for your help.

try posting in the main helproom, describe your system in full detail including power supply. Then describe your problem fully.

u/s means useless

  SG Atlantis® 20:30 27 Dec 05

Ta for that.

u/s means UnServiceable (ok, ok - I know it's the equivalent!!)
