Hi Im wondering if someone can give me some advice on installing a cpu. I recently installed one and I think I destroyed it through installing it wrong. I have ordered a new one and don't want to make the same mistake twice. I seated the cpu correctly then I applied thermal paste. There was also a thermal pad on the heat shrink. Do I need to remove the old heat shrink pad and apply the paste or do I need a new pad. Or is the paste sufficient and I don't need a new pad. Thanks

Just use the pad on the CPU. Remove the protective plastic sheet. Don't bother with the paste as too much will cause problems.

Just use the pad on the Heatsink - sorry.

Thanks for that, is the old pad ok or is it best to replace it.
