A couple of daft laptop related questions.

Just restored a Toshiba L100 using the restore disk and everything is working fine(what a load of rubbish is installed alongside the necessary stuff).I know little about laptops, always had desktops.

First daft question.

Although the laptop was connected (wired) to the internet(for updates etc) via my router it was still telling me that there was an unsecured wireless connection it could and did,if I clicked the connect button.
Is this normal for a laptop?

Second question.

The laptop came with a Belkin wireless G notebook card, well it was in the laptop carry bag, which I have yet to install.
What does this do?
Is it necessary?

The laptop is picking up a nearby unsecured network run by a neighbour - this is normal.

To do so it must already have wireless facilities, you don't need the Belkin card.

Thanks for the speedy answer.
I suspected the Belkin card wasn't needed.

Thanks again.
