I'd like to upgrade the bios in my laptop. I am confused as all the instructions On manufacturers site) say i need a floppy disc..........but the machine doesn't have a drive. Do I need to get an external floppy or is there a wrokaround? Also there are two version a ISO cd image or disc image. CD image seems to suggest i can make a CD but instructions don't seem clear (to me anyway :-) )

Secondly tests report my CPU clock speed at 800mhz but it's supposed to be 2600 is this a FSB speed CPU mix up by myself?

== Processor (type 4, handle 0004, length 32) ==
Socket Designation = Socket 754
Processor Type = CPU
Processor Family = #131
Processor Manufacturer = AMD
Processor ID = 00020F42 078BFBFF
Processor Version = C0
Voltage = Supports 3.3V
External Clock (MHz) = 800
Max Speed (MHz) = 2500
Current Speed (MHz) = 800
Status = Populated, Enabled
Processor Upgrade = UNDEF#16
L1 Cache Handle = 0008
L2 Cache Handle = 0009
L3 Cache Handle = FFFF

Many Thanks

"I'd like to upgrade the bios"

Don't if its working ok ---- a faulty BIOS Flash will render the laptop as scrap.

Firstly I totally agree with Fruit Bat.

Secondly it looks like your laptop has a feature which winds back the processor speed when it is not needed, (like my Acer)

Hence the report stating Current Speed = 800Mhz Max Speed = 2500Mhz.

Thanks I checked it out and you are correct, it's called Cool N Quiet and fools testing software.

I'll take the advice about the BIOS. :-)
