Could this be a virus/trojan?

I run xphome on a 3yr old pc - and recently when starting up, the 1st time I click in a text box online or when I 1st open a word doc, the pc starts typing loads of + signs until I physically stop it by hitting a key on the kboard. It only does it this once every start up.

I scanned with avg, spybot and adaware (all updated regularly) but they found nothing. However, it seems suspicious. Could this be a virus or could the keyboard be on its way out?

More likely to be the key is just stuck, you would be surprised what i have to clean out of mine after a 19 and a 16 year old have been useing it.

what i use is a 1 inch paint brush, Disconnect keyboard, turn upsidedown a use brush between keys or after making a plan of where they all go gently prize them off clean up underneath them, use a damp cloth for all other areas, keyboard good as new....
