corrupt or unreadable file or directory

I have just had a message on my pc it says
Windows Corrupt File
The file or directory c\windows\registration is corrupt or unreadable please run the CHKDSK utility.
what does this mean?

Double click My computer Right click on C:\Properies\Tools Disc checker. But before ding what it asks try running

SFC /SCANNOW with you WinXP disc in computer

It means that Windows thinks that there is a problem with your hard drive.

Start, Run, type

chkdsk /f

and click OK.
