Core 2 Duo T5500 or Core Duo T2350?

I'm hoping for some help choosing between two processors for a laptop:

- Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB)
- Intel Core Duo T2350 (1.86Ghz, 667 FSB, 2MB)

The T2350 has the faster speed, however it is 'Core Duo' as opposed to 'Core 2 Duo'. What difference would this make?
Which is better of these two processors?

Without a doubt the T5500. the T2350 has two cores on the one die and thus shares things like level 2cache. The T5500 has separate dies and is thus much faster. It is a dearer and better CPU

Thanks - glad there's a simple answer to my question!

I'm trying to decide between two machines, been spending ages looking at pros & cons (one's got better HD, the other better graphics...etc). That makes it clear for me. Cheers

The T2350 has only a 533mhz FSB and not 667 FSB.
Size of hard drive and dedicated graphics certainly make a difference to the choice.

Both the Core 2 Duo T5500 and Core Duo T2350 are very similar. I think Quiet Life got it muddled, they are both use one die and both share their cache in the same (or very similar) way. Anyway that is besides the point.

Both of the processors will peform very similarly, I doubt you would notice a difference. I would however be more tempted towards the Core 2 Duo T5500 as it uses the new core architecture and as such has some more modern features like "SSSE3", where as the Core Duo is essentially a dual core Pentium M (which is still very capable).

There would be little difference between a 533mhz and 667mhz bus too, the additionaly clock speed of the T2350 would probably cancel it out. Basically I think its your choice, but the T5500 may prove to be slightly quicker in the long run.

Thanks folks, that's been a great help
