Is there a way of inserting the copyright symbol from a PC keyboard?

Not that I know of in the normal keyboard setup. Can't you just add it in the software program you use to edit your pictures. You only need to put a 'C' in a 'Circle' on a transparent background. It's what I do.

It takes a little while sometimes. But I see now from you name you mean for poems. Although if you were to get one of the free watermark packages you could use that. I've just started illustrating my poems, so as I said before that's when I add the copyright symbol. click here

In word it's normally set up as autocorrect - type (c) and it changes to a © symbol.

In Word another trick you cam do is assign it to a key using the AltGr key combination - on the regular c key would be easy to remember.
