copying programs?

hi,a while ago i was talking to my friend about copying programs and he told me that you do not need to use any program is this true?because i would of thought microsoft would stop people from doing this if not is there any software that allow you to copy programs?

sorry for not making it clear,i am not actually copying software i am just curious what my friend had said

If you have Windows XP and a CD writer, then the answer is, no you do not need any program, because XP supports CD writing. If you don't have XP then you need a cd burner like Nero. Does this answer your question.
