Copying pictures from a website

I've seen some pictures I would like to use on one of my websites. They are not copy protected, and no mention of copywrite can be seen.

Would it be legal or ethical, does the panel think?

It is illegal to use someone else's property, in this case pictures, without their permission or without acknowledging their ownership/copyright: You should at the very least write to them and ask if it's OK - they may be fine about it but not asking for permission and using it is theft.

Have you searched for free or royalty free images on the web - this would be a safer bet.

I second Rahere's post.

I've emailed them asking for permission to copy one or two.
