Copying photo details to CD

When copying (drag & drop) photos from My pictures folder to a CD-R disc I loose the majority of photo details e.g.the date & time photo was taken(the most important to me). Is there a way I can retain all photo details when backing up to cd?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Megstar if you are copying digital photo's then you can always find the date and the time of a pic by viewing the EXIF data,

EXIF viewers are available if you do not have a photo editing program most programs that you use to view your pics have available an option to view the EXIF data.

I've just checked and you can download a free program called irfanview with which you can view the EXIF data and yes it gives you the time and date of that pic.

You do not say what Windows version you have.

95/98/ME- are not XIF aware and will drop this data.
XP retains it.

This is also true of older photo editors-they are not XIF aware in the main and will not retain it.
