I have a ata hard drive and would like to replace it with a new sata hard drive.I would like to tranfer all the data from the old drive to the new
one. Could someone tell me what is the easiest, way to do this. Cheers

Have a look at click here it is free and can clone one drive to another and also make it bootable if you have an operating system on the drive being cloned. You can test it to see if it is all OK before doing something else with your ata drive. I have used it without any problems.
