Copy a Works database to Word

  Grandad99 22 Dec 12

I have a club membership Works database with 450 entries and 16 fields. I am handing over to a new secretary who uses Word. First (and only) thought was to try sending it as a .csv file but saving a copy in this loses the formatting. Is there any other way to do it?

Open a word document

and Insert - object - select MS Excel Worksheet from the list.

Then if it comes out OK save the document and attach to an e mail.

Thanks but I only have Works so can't open a Word document in my PC

Highlight the spreadsheet. Look in your 'programs' file > accessories > Wordpad Open a new file and paste in the data then save as .rtf . He should be able to open it in Word.

I'm not sure why Word is being mentioned. Probably the best way is to export in csv format to Excel on the new secretary's system.

Woolwell - the new Secretary appears to want it as a Word document - but I agree that it would be easier in Excel.

As an aside - I think Works is one of the worst programs ever issued by Microsoft, incompatible with almost everything else.

I think that the new secretary probably meant Office not Word and would be surprised if Excel was not present.

Agree about Works Database.
