converting WMA to ATRAC

  B Brush 20:07 31 Oct 05

I have just bought a Sony NW-E407.

The problem I am having is that most of my music is in WMA format. It appears that my new walkman will not recognise this and I need to convert it to ATRAC.

I cant see anything in the instructions to give me any guidance on how to do this. Is it because Sony and Microsoft are in competition?

I would appreciate any help. The walkman will play mp3 but I still don't know how to convert WMA to this.

If anybody could recommend a free WMA to ATRAC or a WMA to MP3 converter I will be very grateful.

Thanks in anticipation

With your player you should have got a CD with Sony's Sonic Stage on it. Although often derided by reviewers, this application provides a straightforward way to import CD's, music files or online music (Sony Connect) and convert to ATRAC, Sony's proprietory compression system, with a choice of bitrates, before transferring to your E407.

If you don't have the CD Sonic Stage can be downloaded free from click here
