Converting file types

Hi, a simple question I hope!

How can I convert a .TIF file to JPEG or BMP format? I have been sent some photos which were saved as TIF files by Office XP which I do not have. As a result I can't print them.

Running XP Pro myself so any suggestions welcome.

You need to have a photo program like Photosuite or Paint shop Pro.

Right click the file and choose Open with\Windows Picture and Fax Viewer You can print it from there. Just click the printer icon at the bottom. Works with tif's.

You can also open a tif in paint as you have XP.

Have tried picture & fax viewer.

Get "No preview available" & print option is greyed out.

I've just tried it and had no problem. Are you sure they are tif's. I'm a bit confused as you say they were saved in Office XP. Which program?

Not sure which program. They were scanned in so will have to enquire.

I wait to be corrected, but as far as I am aware the only Office apps that can save as a tif are Publisher and the Photo Editor. Both should not cause you any problems. Just had success with both, opening them in the Picture Viewer.

If you still have problems take huggyg71's advice and download IrfanView. That will open just about anything.

Just spoke to bro', he's not sure which program. He said he just pressed the scan button & got TIF files!

Irfanview site seems not to be working at present, will try again later.

Many thanks for the help
