converting downloaded films to burn onto dvd

hi can anybody help
i've downloaded some films from the internet and they are in avi format can anybody help me how to convert them so i can burn them onto dvd, is there any free programs out there and how do you do it i know it is a big ask many thanx

I have not used it, but I believe Window Movie Maker in XP can do this for you.

I would Stick with flick its a better tool for the job and willaiuthor your files to a dvd_video dvd

Easiest method (I think) is to burn the avi's straight to dvd using free Div-X player click here which only takes a few minutes to fill a dvd, and get a cheap avi compatible dvd player to play them click here player

i use convertxtodvd (same people whjo make copytodvd) and i have to say it is as solid as a rock...converts your avi files to Video_TS files in quick fashion....just my opinion
