I have a spare ibm travelstar 48gb hdd that I should like to use as an external drive.
The model is IC25T048ATD05 5400rpm ATA/IDE.
I cant identify the cabling I need, as it's got a 44 + 4 pin type connector.
Can anyone help ?
Many thanks.
John

External caddies proliferate these days
in all sorts of configurations.
Self powered and USB powered, flashing lights- some with fans others without.
All work on the same principle however a small circuit board and data/power connector ribbon, Connect up slap it in ,plug in USB and you are in business.
Best advice is to get
Self powered[via a power Brick or internal power that plugs into mains- USB power can slow or even kill your computer power supply] and one with a cooling fan- quite a bit of heat is generated if left running all the time.- though if it is to a purely a storage device you can leave it off until needed..
As stated they abound in many locations one to try is click here
