convert from fat16 to fat32

hi all i formatted a computer using some special utility disk from hp for the computer and i installed everything and to my dismay it was FAT16!!!!

Can i convert it to FAT32 without losing anything or will i lose the stuff already there?

It would have been helpful to say what operating system you have installed.

If it's Windows 98 or ME then there is a convert utility which I believe is under Accessories, System Tools and this is none destructive but takes a long time. However, since Fat16 is limited to a maximum of 2Gb, you may not be getting the full capacity of your drive if it is larger than this.

If you are running Windows XP then you can convert Fat16 or Fat32 to NTFS but from what I've just been reading on a few links from Google there is a problem with converting to Fat32. Windows XP Help gives full details for converting to NTFS.
