Can anyone advise what the best/easiest software is available to convert a standard music CD into MP3 format is?
This is more for my son than me but grateful for any general advice

I use Cdex you can get it from here click here

you could use wmp to rip it to hardrive in mp3 format
from the rip heading select mp3 from the drop down menu

Thanks Abi-Moore and, of course, *RAVEN*- you are quite correct there is an MP3 option from wmp-that should do what I need.

You should also ensure that your rewriter is Enabled to allow CD Recordings using Windows (My Computer>Rewriter>highlight>Properties>Recording tab>Enable CD Recording on this drive)

You will also/may need to configure WMP from Tools>Options>Rip Music and Burn tabs before attempting to make recordings.
