convert canon starwriter jet 300 files to text

Could anybody help me find a method of converting files from a Canon Starwriter jet 300 to anything that Windows can read. e.g. text for word files

You could try this - print your document with the StarWrite, then scan the printed document and OCR it to save it as a Word .doc or .txt.

I think the files will be on a floppy, But if so why not tell us

Canon Starwriter Jet 300 is an old style wordprocessor which saves its files on a floppy. Unfortunately these files are not the same as the Starwriter files in Open Office. There clearly are some form of text file, but at present not I have not found any software that will make them compatible with Windows.
Yes you are right the files could be printed off and scanned in, but this would take a long time. I am just hopeful that there may be a convertor of some sort.

It may let you save in a different format after you open it, Testing will tell you

Thanks Woodchip, the first of your suggestions has the answer. i.e. Winconv.exe

Unfortunately the SDW files from Open Office are not the same as the Canon Starwriter files.
