Control panel in Windows Explorer

There is an icon for Control Panel which appears in Windows Explorer under the list of drives, immediately below the last CD drive. This is useless and irritating as it opens control panel when I eject a disc from that drive. Can it be removed? (there is no option to remove it in the context menu). I have disabled "show Control PAnel in My Computer" option, but it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Using XP Pro / SP2 / NTFS
