Continual Power to MB

  Stubiedoo 12:53 07 Jul 03

Just got new motherboard & CPU for PC (SyntaxSV266A + AMD Duron 1.3). As soon as I attach power to the case the CPU fan starts. The only way to turn it off is to disconnect the mains from the back. Have triple checked all leads and jumpers but with no success. Monitor does not power up either. Power button on front has no affect.

Any Ideas??

Check carefully the leads from the front of the case to the motherboard yet again - and error might give the problem you have.

As a last resort, take of all the leads from the front to the motherboard - does the system startup then? If it does, you likely have a faulty motherboard.

are you holding the power button in for more than 4 seconds?

The CPU was faulty.
