consumer credit card rights and part payments

following an earlier thread by DongQuyCao, I will be making a purchase soon and just need to get this clarified. If an item (computer) is purchased (say £1000) and part of the payment is made by credit card that, as long as the part payment is over £100, the whole of the purchase price is covered under consumer law and the credit card company would be jointly responsible. Therefore, the whole of the purchase price (£1000) could be claimed back if necessary.
Sure I've read this somewhere. thanks

Why not phone the credit card company? They should be able to give the definitive reply.
