Constant Reboot Cycle

Have just tried to update a mouse driver on an XPSP3 PC. The machine crashed and went into a constant reboot cycle reaching the Microsoft Windows XP splash screen before again rebooting.

Early messages read, 'The BIOS Not Installed' (although I can access the BIOS) and 'No Device'.

Help please.

If you can get into safe mode use system restore to a time before you did the update.
You can do this by tapping f8 at boot up.

Or you can try clearing cmos by removing the battery for a few minutes with the power off.

Thanks for the advice. Fortunately, I managed to get back into Windows using 'Last Known Good Config'.

However, not wanting to be outdone by the mouse, I again tried to update the driver.....and guess what?!

Yup, the PC went into the perpetual reboot cycle!

Anyway, I again accessed Windows as described above and the mouse problem will have to stay!!

Incidentally, the mouse problem is a very jittery scrolling issue in both IE and FF. Both browsers are set to use 'smooth scroll' and I've checked over the mouse settings in Control Panel. Ho hum!!
