connection problem

I am having problems with my connection to aol when I am on I keep getting a message saying a local network has become unplugged i either get booted off or everything freezes,,, I have reinstalled my moden, tried connectivety service repairs I have tried plugging into another usb port but still the problem occurs I have phone aol on numerous occasions about this and they are as much help as a chocolate tea pot,,, can anyone give me any advice,,, thanks
oh i have windows xp home and checked no patches required

this suggest a phone line problem to me. Are you a long way from the master socket? on an extension phone lead? If you are not close to the master socket would it be possible to temporarely move your pc and modem to the master and see if things then improve. Another thought check your filters if you have more than one try swapping them about.
