I'mn trying to re-install wireless network on my daughters ;aptop, which has ben returned with a new HDD> Everything else seems OK.
The network [my desktop] is showing as found, but when I enter the WPA key in the wireless network properties on the laptop I get this error message >

"The password needs to be 40 or 104 bits depending on the networkconfiguration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ASCII characyers or 10 or 26 hex characters"

Fools me!! Help??? Thanks in advance.

I think that's asking for a WEP key. Check your router settings see if it works with a WEP.

Yes, WEP key. Belkin management console [adsl modem router] gives the option of WEP or WPA. My own laptop is on automatic connection, but I set it up WPA. I don't know if that will work with WEP.

Maybe it is suck it and see time - any thoughts?

I am aware that WPA is more secure and there are 2 other networks in range - my neighbours!
