I have a Toshiba laptop running Windows XP Home Edition, which I want to connect to a PC with Windows 98 SE. The only cable I have a basic internet cable which goes into the modem port on each computer. Is there any way I can connect these computers together so I can transfer files??

Thanks,
Tom

just put a network card in each pc, the cards cost no more than a few £'s and you can pick them up at computer fairs for pennies. Then get a cable that costs a few quid and you have a nice network. There is a way of networking over a phone line but it isnt that easy and with one being 98se that makes it harder so i wouldnt bother..
