Connection Drop

  Chadders1989 18:26 19 Oct 07

i have a desktop pc connected to a BT Home hub via ethernet, which can browse the net for hours no problem. However when i connect using my laptop, which is wirelessly linked, it will work for a short period of time, but then it disconnects from the internet, and as a consequence the whole system does too.No interent on the laptop or desktop. Interestingly,my xbox 360 will stay connected to LIVE even when the internet connection has cut out.
Any ideas?
Help would be greatly appreciated,

Try these setting on both computers

Other Lan Card Setting

Right click on Local Area Connection Display Icon in task bar

At the top of display the type of Lan card will be displayed

Click Configure-Click-Advanced Tab

Click- Flow Control-Change to Enabled if Disabled

Click-Power Management Tab

Untick if selected "Allow Computer to turn this device off to save power

Other Network Connection Setting

Click-Start- Setting-Network Connection-New Connection Wizard

Select-Connect to the Internet-Next

Select-Set Up My Connection Manually-Next

Select-Connect using a broadband connection that is always on

I have applied these settings on the desktop, but cannot do so on the laptop, as local area connection is disabled ("a network cable is unplugged"). I have a wireless connection on the laptop.

Don’t see why when the laptop is disconnected the desktop also get disconnect

Are you sure the Internet setting and the wireless system on the router is set up connect, as the wireless system should not affect the hard wire system

What make and model # of router
